CAMRYN MCLELLAND FINE ART · COMMISSIONS

Art made personal.

Original paintings created through thoughtful collaboration, inspired by your story, your space, and the things you want to hold onto.

Each commission is an original work of art, created by hand and guided by your ideas while remaining true to my own artistic process.

Every project is reviewed individually. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

THE COMMISSION EXPERIENCE

A meaningful piece, from beginning to end.

A commission begins with a conversation. We'll establish the vision, dimensions, budget, and direction before the project is approved and painting begins.

01

Share your vision

Tell me about the subject, story, space, palette, and feeling you want the artwork to evoke.

02

Plan the piece

We'll discuss size, materials, references, pricing, timing, and what is realistically achievable.

03

Confirm your commission

You'll receive a written quote and project-specific agreement. Your signed agreement and deposit reserve the commission.

04

Creation and delivery

Your painting is created by hand. The remaining balance and delivery arrangements follow the signed agreement.

FIND YOUR DIRECTION

What can you commission?

My work centers on expressive, textured, original paintings. The strongest commissions leave room for interpretation and allow the artwork to become its own piece.

01 · LANDSCAPE & NATURE

Nature, reimagined

Abstract landscapes, gardens, florals, trees, water, meadows, and nature-inspired compositions shaped by color, movement, and texture.

02 · PERSONAL MEANING

Stories worth keeping

Artwork inspired by meaningful places, memories, milestones, relationships, or personal experiences, translated into an original visual language.

03 · PETS & MEMORIALS

Personal tributes

Pet-inspired or memorial artwork may be considered when the subject and approach are a good fit. The level of realism and final treatment must be agreed in advance.

04 · YOUR SPACE

Color, scale & atmosphere

Custom sizes, orientations, and color palettes may be possible depending on materials, studio capacity, and the needs of the project.

All commissions are subject to individual approval. Availability, dimensions, medium, framing, and final pricing are confirmed in writing before work begins.

A NOTE ON ORIGINALITY

What I don't offer.

Clear expectations help protect both the creative process and the finished work.

Exact replicas

I do not guarantee one-to-one reproductions of photographs, AI-generated images, or other artworks. References communicate ideas; they do not promise an identical result.

Copies of another artist's work

I do not copy protected artwork without appropriate authorization or undertake projects intended to imitate another artist's distinctive style on demand.

Unlimited revisions

A commission is not an open-ended redesign. The included consultation and any agreed revision opportunities will be documented in the project proposal.

Work outside my practice

I may decline requests that require techniques, materials, subject matter, or outcomes outside my capabilities, available time, or artistic direction.

You are welcome to share inspiration photos, mood boards, AI concepts, and color references. I may use them to understand your ideas, but the painting itself will be an original interpretation created in my own artistic style.

RESERVING YOUR COMMISSION

A clear investment, agreed in advance.

Each commission receives a written quote based on its dimensions, materials, complexity, preparation, studio time, and any agreed framing or delivery requirements.

50%
DepositDue when the agreement is signed.
50%
Remaining balanceDue at the milestone specified in your signed agreement.

The deposit is designated as non-refundable, subject to the signed cancellation terms and applicable law. It reserves studio time and covers project-specific planning and commitments. Your commission is not reserved, and work will not begin, until the signed agreement and deposit have been received.

The remaining balance must be paid before shipment, delivery, or release of the artwork unless the written agreement expressly provides otherwise. Any additional charges must be approved in writing before they are incurred.

The final quote and signed agreement control the payment schedule for your particular project.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING

Commission policies.

These policies establish expectations for a respectful, transparent creative process. Your project-specific signed agreement will set out the exact terms that apply to your commission.

01. Inquiry and acceptance

Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee acceptance or reserve a place in the studio schedule. Each project is reviewed individually for artistic fit, feasibility, timing, materials, and budget.

A commission is accepted only after the scope and price are confirmed in writing, the agreement is signed, and the required deposit is received.

02. Scope and artistic interpretation

The approved proposal defines the subject, dimensions, medium, direction, and other agreed specifications. Reference images help communicate the desired mood, subject, or palette but do not guarantee exact replication.

Artistic decisions involving brushwork, texture, color relationships, and composition remain with the artist within the agreed scope. Original handmade paintings naturally contain variations.

03. Deposit and payment

A deposit of 50% of the total agreed commission price is due when the project-specific agreement is signed. The deposit reserves studio time and covers project-specific planning and commitments.

The deposit is designated as non-refundable, subject to the cancellation terms in the signed agreement and applicable law. The balance is due at the milestone stated in that agreement, normally before delivery or release of the artwork.

No unapproved additional charges will be imposed. Any agreed change to the price must be documented in writing.

04. Revisions and changes

The written proposal will identify any included consultations, preliminary concepts, or revisions. There are no unlimited revisions.

Changes to dimensions, subject, composition, materials, or overall direction after approval may affect feasibility, price, and timing. Substantial changes require written agreement before additional work or charges are undertaken.

Extensive repainting or a complete change in direction may not be possible after a painting is substantially completed.

05. Cancellations and termination

Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing. The parties' obligations will be determined by the signed agreement and applicable law, taking account of work completed, project-specific commitments, materials, payments already made, and any legally recoverable amounts.

The deposit is not automatically refundable merely because a collector changes their mind. However, the agreement does not eliminate any refund or other remedy required by law.

If the artist must cancel, the artist will notify the collector and handle any refund or other obligations according to the signed agreement and applicable law.

06. Timeline and communication

Estimated completion dates are provided in good faith and are not guaranteed unless expressly agreed in writing. Drying and curing times, materials, studio circumstances, illness, shipping disruptions, and other events can affect timing.

The artist will communicate material delays and provide updated estimates when reasonably possible. The collector is responsible for timely responses to requests for approvals, information, and delivery details.

07. Materials, color and natural variations

Original paintings are handmade works. Texture, surface, brushwork, color relationships, and fine details may vary from digital references and photographs.

Colors can appear different on different screens and under different lighting conditions. These normal variations are not, by themselves, defects or evidence that the artwork has failed to meet the agreed scope.

08. Shipping, delivery and damage

Shipping, framing, installation, local delivery, insurance arrangements, and associated costs will be specified in the written proposal or agreement.

The collector should inspect the artwork promptly upon receipt and report apparent shipping damage within the period and process stated in the agreement. Photographs of the artwork, packaging, and damage may be required for a carrier claim.

Any remedies for damage or defects will be handled according to the signed agreement and applicable law.

09. Ownership and copyright

Upon full payment, the collector receives ownership of the physical painting. Copyright and other applicable intellectual property rights remain with the artist unless a separate written transfer or license is signed.

Purchase of an original painting does not automatically grant permission to reproduce, commercially distribute, or create derivative works from it. Written permission is required for uses beyond the rights expressly granted.

10. Photography and portfolio use

The artist may photograph completed work for studio documentation and portfolio purposes. Use of identifiable personal details, private information, or photographs of the collector requires appropriate permission where required by law.

Any special privacy, embargo, or promotional restrictions must be discussed and documented in writing before the project begins.

11. Final balance and release

All amounts due under the signed agreement must be paid before the artwork is shipped, delivered, or released, unless another arrangement is expressly agreed in writing.

The collector will receive the agreed delivery details once the payment and fulfillment requirements have been met.
